The DMV lists the Inglewood office as closed every day of the week (checked 2026-10-05), so it is not in this table. These offices are closed on weekends and open at 9 a.m. on Wednesdays. Learning to drive in Hawthorne: a citywide safety plan and busy freeway ramps

Hawthorne adopted a citywide Safety Action Plan (opens in a new tab) on April 22, 2025. A $200,000 Safe Streets and Roads for All grant paid for it. The plan follows the Safe System Approach, which starts from the idea that people make mistakes and are easily hurt. It calls for lower vehicle speeds and safer streets for walkers and bike riders. Residents could also comment on study sites through an online map in early 2025. Build in your own room for error: slow down near crosswalks and keep space ahead.

The city's capital projects list (opens in a new tab) targets turning traffic on El Segundo Boulevard between the I-405 ramps. Signals there are more than 20 years old and hard to coordinate, so new timing is planned. Another project would add a southbound right-turn lane on Hawthorne Boulevard at Imperial Highway. It would also give Imperial a second eastbound left-turn lane at Freeman Avenue toward the I-105 on-ramp. In a double left-turn lane, keep to your lane from the start of the turn to the end.
