Learning to drive in Chino: a flood-prone Euclid Avenue bridge and Pine Avenue work

Euclid Avenue crosses Chino Creek between Pine Avenue and State Route 71, in the flood-prone Prado Basin. The city's Euclid Avenue Bridge Project (opens in a new tab) would lift the bridge above the 50-year flood zone. It would also widen the road to four lanes. Construction is anticipated in summer 2027 if the city lines up the money. Never drive into water covering a road, since you cannot judge its depth. Turn around and use another route.

On Pine Avenue east of Mill Creek Avenue, a developer is widening the road (opens in a new tab) to West Preserve Loop. Crews are moving overhead power lines underground and adding curbs and sidewalks. Eastbound lanes close at times, and the work was expected to be mostly done by fall 2026. Chino also runs its signals from a central control system at City Hall, says its Transportation Operations page (opens in a new tab). In a lane closure, merge early and match the speed of traffic. Follow every flagger and sign.
