Learning to drive in Clovis: SR 168, Shaw Avenue and canal trail crossings
State Route 168 is the freeway through Clovis, and trail users will soon cross over it. Caltrans plans a bike and walking bridge over SR 168 (opens in a new tab) for the Enterprise Canal Trail. It would land near Clovis Community Hospital at Owens Mountain Parkway. Construction is listed from December 2026 to December 2027, for a bridge about 460 feet long. On SR 168, Caltrans is also fixing 158 culverts (opens in a new tab) from the Fowler Avenue overcrossing east, with work listed through summer 2027. Watch for work-zone signs, and slow down where shoulders narrow.
On city streets, roadwork is common. The city's traffic alerts page (opens in a new tab) lists active work on Shaw Avenue, Herndon Avenue, Ashlan Avenue and Shepherd Avenue.
