Learning to drive in Perris: Case Road's new bridge and rail crossing
Case Road links the 215 Freeway with downtown Perris, and the city has been rebuilding it. The city's Case Road project (opens in a new tab) widened the road from two to four lanes between Mapes Road and Goetz Road. A new four-lane bridge over the San Jacinto River was expected to be done in winter 2026. During that work, drivers used one lane each way while crews built half the bridge at a time. In a narrow work zone, keep both hands on the wheel. Stay centered and do not pass.
At Case Road and Ellis Avenue, the street crosses Metrolink railroad tracks. The project upgrades the tracks and crossing signals and adds a concrete median and new traffic signals there. More signals are planned at Case and Murrieta roads and at Case and Mapes roads. For live closures, the city's road work page (opens in a new tab) points drivers to IE 511 and Caltrans. At a rail crossing, slow down, look both ways and listen. Never stop on the tracks.
